Missions and Policies
The draft version of the new mission statement, inspired by the program goals and student learning standards established by the American Association of School Librarians (2007) is as follows.
The mission of the Amity High School Library Media Center is to provide all members of the learning community with the services, instruction, and resources they need to effectively access, interpret, use, and share information in all media, so that they can acquire knowledge through inquiry and critical thinking, create new ideas, contribute to their communities, and gain personal satisfaction (ARHS, 2012).
Books may be borrowed for 3 weeks, and renewed if no one else has requested them. Fines for late books are $1 per week, up to a maximum of $5. At any point, if a book is not returned and we need to purchase a replacement copy, students will be responsible for the replacement cost.
SELECTION AND DESELECTION POLICIES
CHALLENGED MATERIALS POLICY
ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY
The Amity Regional school district requires that students agree to the Acceptable Use Policy for technology use. Technology access and resources in the library are subject to the same agreement. Computers in the library are to be used for information seeking for personal or school purposes, and not for entertainment (gaming, movies, TV, music videos).
