The How-to for Students guide is where students can find instructions for so many things: from tech instructions, like logging on to school resources, printing, or using Google products, to researching and citing sources.
"How-To" for Teachers and Staff
The How-to for Teachers guide is where teachers can find instructions to help them use instructional technology. Where appropriate we will provide links to other Amity technology resources. For updated information about how to log-in to different platforms, make sure to look at our Database page (mostly content platforms), and our Amity Links (mostly tools).
How to Back up Google Docs to a Private Google Account
Seniors, you should back up any documents that you want to keep from your Google amityschools.org accounts to a private Google account. See these instructions.
How to use your Google @amityschools.org account
We have our own Amity Google account at Amityschools.org, where you can see all other Amity users, so you can share information, communicate, and collaborate. See how to use your @amityschools.org account!
How to sign up for NoodleTools for Citations
NoodleTools is Amity’s subscription citation and note-taking platform. Like the old Easybib, it allows you to create citations, take notes, and link those notes to the specific citation the information comes from in an article, book, or web source. You can then organize your notes, and create an outline to organize your paper. Once you sign up for your own, full-service premium account, you will be able to access your citations and notes from anywhere! Sign up for 7th/8th/9th Graders or 10th/11th/12 graders. Teachers can view this tutorial to learn how it works, and request a librarian lesson to be developed for their students.

How to Write in Chinese Characters in Google Docs
Inside your Google Doc:
In the “File” Menu, click “Language”, and choose the simplified Chinese characters (first Chinese choice)
Next, look for the Chinese character ( 拼 ) that has appeared on the right of the tool bar (it means Pinyin).
You will click this character to toggle between inputting Pinyin and Western letters. Click it once, and you input Pinyin, click again, and you are back to Western. And so forth.
How to use the Oxford English Dictionary online
Good news, the OED is available through the State Library, but students do need a state card (different from a local library card).
Download the form from the CT page here, which you can fill in electronically, including the parent part, and print it out for signatures. Fill in your driver license number or, if you don't have one, your local library card number right above that. If you are under 18 the parental information is also required.
How to edit videos in YouTube
We have compiled some instructions and a tutorial on compiling and editing videos using YouTube's editor. (Disclaimer: YouTube has changed its look a bit, so not all the instructions are accurate, but if you start the tutorial at the point at which it shows the YouTube editor, much of it is still valid. It will be updated soon.
